Monitoring concrete by CWI

Concrete is the single most widely used material in the world especially for the civil infrastructures. The neglecting and excessive use of the existing public infrastructures has led to the accelerated deterioration of bridges, buildings, transportation systems, etc. The performance of structure is gradually degraded or be damaged. In the material of an engineering structure like concrete or steel, fatigue damage could not be seen and failure occurs suddenly and without any early warning. Therefore, it is necessary to monitor the health of concrete including the damage, fatigue, load distribution, etc. The most common monitoring method is ultrasonic pulse velocity test, because of its limitation; a new method ‘Coda wave interferometry’ is developed.
