The PhD retreat is a BAM-internal symposium for PhD students organized by the AK Doktoranden. It is held annually since 2015 and takes place on 3 days during summer.
The core part of the program each year consists of short presentations held by the participating PhD students. In a rather conference-like atmosphere they can present their respective PhD projects, their approaches to a scientific question and their results.
This event aims at improving scientific exchange amongst PhD students at BAM enabling them to expand their internal network.
By receiving a feedback on their presentation by their peers, the participants have a very nice practice of their communication skills for the international conferences to come.
ESR12 Lijia Long participated to the symposium (8-10 June 2017) that took place in Waren (Müritz) and presented her work on Quantification of the value of monitoring information.
