Project Manager profile

Description

We are looking for a Project Manager to assist the Project Coordinator of the H2020-MSCA-ITN (Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions Innovative Training Network) European Project “Innovation and Networking for Fatigue and Reliability Analysis of Structures” (INFRASTAR) which is granted for 4 years starting September 1st 2016.

The aims of INFRASTAR is to train a new generation of European scientists to optimal and reliable management of structures (bridges and wind turbines) by addressing 3 major challenges: advanced modelling of concrete fatigue behaviour, new non destructive testing methods for early aged damage detection, probabilistic approach of structure reliability under fatigue behaviour.

INFRASTAR includes Scientific Research in 4 First-Class Academic Organisations (Ifsttar/France, EPFL/Switzerland, BAM/Germany, AAU/Denmark) and 4 Industrials Companies (PHIMECA/France, GuD/Germany, COWI/Denmark, NEOSTRAIN/Poland) and 3 associated partners (EIFFAGE/France, BAST/Germany, SIEMENS/Denmark).

The Duties of the Project Manager will be:

  • Ensuring the link and facilitating exchanges and cooperation between the 12 PhD students, e.g. through dedicated web tools
  • Organising multiple partners trials (either numerical or experimental in situ and in laboratory)
  • Managing the day-to-day operational tasks: organisation of project meetings (agenda,minutes, venues, speakers...), training weeks, sessions and secondments for the 12 PhD students
  • Having a clear picture of the project's deliverables and timeliness, to ensure coordination among partners and timely delivery
  • Monitoring the project's deliverables, milestones, periodic reports and schedule, to ensure a proper coordination among partners and timely deliveries
  • Monitoring the project budget (Total budget app. 3 M€)
  • Facilitating the communication between the project’s partners of the project and the 3 associated members (EIFFAGE/France, BAST/Germany, SIEMENS/Denmark)
  • Contributing to the dissemination of INFRASTAR results and updates of the website

Experience, knowledge and competencies required:

  • We are seeking a dynamic person with a PhD in Civil Engineering and/or a good knowledge and some experience in research area
  • The candidate should demonstrate capacity in team work
  • A supplementary 2-years research experience – postdoc – in a research lab or an experience in a research project management would be a plus
  • Excellent communication skills (written an oral) in English will be essential as well as basic notion in French
  • Good organizational and analytical skills and ability to meet strict deadlines will be essential
  • Enthusiasm for mentoring others and work collaboratively in team
  • Proactive, flexible and problem-solving attitude
  • Fast learner that requires minimal supervision
  • Strong attention to process, detail and documentation
  • Willingness to travel within Europe is required

Working conditions and entitlements

  • Position based at Ifsttar, Bouguenais (just outside Nantes), France
  • Full time position available from September 1, 2016.
  • High-quality scientific environment
  • Salary between 25k€ and 32k€ subject to experience
  • The position will be available from 1st of September 2016 for a maximum duration of 4 years
  • Day-to-day work in close relationship with the Project Coordinator, researchers and Finances and Partnership Department of Ifsttar
